Life at the Bronner Brothers International Hair Show

I just returned from the Bronner Brothers International Hair Show August 20-22, 2011 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA, arguably the largest hair show in the world. You may be wondering what I was doing at a hair show. I went there to stand with my dear friend Catherine Davis, the visionary behind Project Samson. Alveda King, Dean Nelson, Shealeta Murden-Reed and others also served with us.

But, what is Project Samson? In Judges 13:1 – 16:31, Samson is born to a woman who was originally sterile and childless. Read more...

A Different Kind of Black History

We’ve reached another Black History Month in America. The month of February is a time to pause and consider the accomplishments Black Americans have made and continue to make in our nation. Our minds often reflect upon the positive examples of historical icons such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Frederick Douglas, Sojourner Truth, Rosa Parks and many others past and present. Black History Month is certainly a time to celebrate. However, as pleasant as it to reflect upon the positive accomplishments of Blacks in history, gleaning what we can from them, I think we owe it to ourselves to periodically ponder ugly and uncomfortable deeds done by individuals and extract the lessons we can learn from them as well. Part of the uncomfortable yet necessary mission of Protecting Black Life is to present the ugly truth about abortion and its devastating impact upon the African American community, as well as exposing injustices wrought by individuals within the abortion industry. Summer Madness

I have been a serious music lover as far back as I can recall, and I recently heard Kool and The Gang's 1974 R&B instrumental smash hit Summer Madness, after not hearing it for a long time. Although I do not know what Kool and The Gang had in mind when they selected this song's title, I do know that as summer 2010 approaches temperatures will begin to go up, car and house windows will begin to come down, clothing will begin to come off, schools will close for their summer breaks, and many of our nation's young people will have an abundance of unsupervised time on their hands. They will spend much of that unsupervised time with one another, which is packed with potential for summer madness, if you know what I mean. Read more...

Black Activist Speaks of the Dangers of the Obama Presidency

Here at the SPUC conference in Derbyshire, Rev Arnold Culbreath, Urban Outreach Director of Life Issues Institute, Inc., has been speaking about the dangers of an Obama presidency. He says that God yearns to save abortion supporters. While we may hate the sin of abortion, we should not hate those who approve of it. Read more....
